Ferritic Stainless Steels

At Radiant Industries, we are proud to manufacture a comprehensive range of stainless steel products, including Ferritic Stainless Steels—an essential part of the 400 series. Known for their excellent corrosion resistance and cost-effectiveness, ferritic grades are widely used across automotive, architectural, and industrial applications.

Ferritic stainless steels are primarily chromium-based alloys (10.5% to 18%) with low carbon content (usually less than 0.1%). Unlike austenitic steels, they do not contain significant amounts of nickel, making them more economical while still offering good corrosion resistance, particularly in non-aggressive environments.

These steels exhibit a body-centered cubic (BCC) crystal structure, which gives them magnetic properties and good thermal conductivity. However, due to their structure and low carbon content, ferritic steels are not hardenable by heat treatment.

Production Capabilities at Radiant Industries

We produce various Ferritic Stainless Steel grades that are ideal for forming, moderate corrosion resistance, and high-temperature applications. Our grades are engineered to match the requirements of sectors demanding strength, formability, and cost-efficiency.

Key Properties

Corrosion Resistance
Ferritic stainless steels offer good resistance to corrosion and oxidation, particularly in atmospheric and mildly corrosive environments.

Weldability
While not as weldable as austenitic grades, ferritic steels can be welded with proper procedures. Thin sections are especially suitable for welding applications.

Formability
These steels exhibit good formability and are especially well-suited for processes like bending, deep drawing, and pressing—making them a preferred choice for automotive and kitchen equipment components.

Magnetism
Ferritic stainless steels are magnetic in all conditions, which makes them useful for various electrical and mechanical applications.

Applications of Ferritic Stainless Steel

Due to their balance of corrosion resistance, formability, and cost-effectiveness, ferritic stainless steels from Radiant Industries are widely used in:

  • Automotive components (exhaust systems, trim, heat shields)

  • Domestic appliances (washing machine drums, cooking utensils)

  • Architecture (cladding, roofing, elevator doors)

  • Industrial equipment (heat exchangers, storage tanks)

At Radiant Industries, we ensure consistent quality, dimensional accuracy, and metallurgical integrity in every batch of ferritic stainless steel we produce—backed by our state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities and industry-leading expertise.
