Known for their excellent corrosion resistance and cost-effectiveness, ferritic grades are widely used across automotive, architectural, and industrial applications.
Ferritic stainless steels are primarily chromium-based alloys (10.5% to 18%) with low carbon content (usually less than 0.1%). Unlike austenitic steels, they do not contain significant amounts of nickel, making them more economical while still offering good corrosion resistance, particularly in non-aggressive environments.
These steels exhibit a body-centered cubic (BCC) crystal structure, which gives them magnetic properties and good thermal conductivity. However, due to their structure and low carbon content, ferritic steels are not hardenable by heat treatment.
